About Us..

What Is A Clubhouse?

  • A place where people live for today and hope for tomorrow.
  • A place for opportunity.
  • A place for growth through shared work and friendships.
Crossroads is a Clubhouse program for individuals living with mental illness. Crossroads has been certified by the International Center for Clubhouse Development (ICCD). It is a place where people feel valued and needed through work and social opportunity. Members attend the club to work together to help build more meaningful and satisfying lives.

The History of Crossroads

The History of Crossroads is based on the Fountain House model of rehabilitation. The model was founded in New York City in the late 1940's and there are currently over 300 Clubhouses worldwide.

At the heart of the Clubhouse model are the International Standards for Clubhouse Programs which are consensually agreed upon by the worldwide Clubhouse community. The Standards serve as a kind of "bill of rights" for members and a code of ethics for staff. The standards provide the basis for assessing Clubhouse quality, through the International Center for Clubhouse Development (ICCD) certification process.

Crossroads opened its doors in June of 1995. It was awarded a Three Year Certification by the ICCD in 2003, the highest certification award available.

"Recovery does not have one starting point, or one destination. Whether it's number one, number five or number thirty on the task list, the goal is to just start moving forward in any area, in any increment."
Kathleen Crawley, 1997
